Kroger Breaking Ground and Boosting Growth in Colorado

Kroger Breaking Ground in Colorado
King Soopers, a subsidiary of retail giant Kroger, has officially broken ground on a new large-format Marketplace superstore in Aurora, Colorado. The massive project represents a forty-three million dollar investment in the local community. Located at 21900 East 56th Avenue, near the intersection of North Picadilly Road, this state of the art facility is designed to meet the growing demands of a rapidly expanding residential sector in eastern Aurora.

The sprawling store will span 123,000 square feet, making it significantly larger than traditional neighborhood grocery locations. Beyond standard supermarket fare, the marketplace format will provide a comprehensive one stop shopping experience for nearby residents. Plans for the interior include a full scale sushi counter, a specialized Murray’s Cheese Shop, and an in store Starbucks, alongside expanded home goods and lifestyle departments.

This development is part of a broader corporate strategy by Kroger to increase its physical footprint in high growth suburban areas. It follows a significant land acquisition in the region and aligns with plans to boost new store construction. In addition to a comprehensive in store shopping experience, the new location will fully support modern convenience options, featuring dedicated grocery pickup stalls, delivery services, and a drive-thru pharmacy.

The new supermarket is expected to open its doors to the public in late 2027. Upon completion, the project will bring substantial economic benefits to the area, including the creation of around 250 jobs. Local officials and community members welcome the addition, which promises to enhance local retail access and provide reliable services to thousands of nearby households.
